Our 100th post and celebrations of sorts mix!

Unlike a lot of other blogs, who easily hit their 100th post mark in their first few months without breaking a sweat or computers, Camera Crowd is a blog that has always taken time with their posts and well we like to think that's a good thing. There is enough "stuff" out there on the Internet for you to read and digest and as much as we'd like to shove bands down your throat every day(blogger joke?), we just want to make sure who we post is worthwhile of your time. It's also a good excuse for not letting a blog run our lives and not being on the computer once in awhile.

While we're at it there are a few other minor calls for celebration. This blog was started last year in June and now that the earth has made its way back again, Camera Crowd is now one year old and we hope we'll stay with it and who knows what will happen. Tomorrow is Charlie's 22nd birthday and then on Tuesday it's Anne's 18th birthday!

Now that we got those out of the way, here's a playlist that we've compiled to celebrate these lovely landmarks. All the songs are by the bands/artists we've written in any of the past 99 posts and we've provided a link to the post if you missed it the first time around.

Finally, we'd like to thank you, yes you reading this silly post right now! Thank you for reading whether it be your first time on this blog or your 29374932th time. For readers who've been on here before, we hope we introduced some music you've enjoyed and will continue to or try at least. The big thank you goes to the people who make the music of course, after all, you are the reason why us bloggers are here.

Alright, as always downloads are only available for 7 days!

{You can hear the whole playlist by using the music player below and then you can either download individual songs or the whole playlist. We don't want you wasting summertime by being online all day, so save time while listening: go check your email, facebook, myspace, insert latest social networking obsession...}

Camera Crowd's Spring Blooms Mix!

So long old man winter! Those long and cold days are gone and won't return for another nine months. Let's welcome the familiar sights and sounds of our beloved Spring. You know what I'm talking about, the birds and the bees, (not referring to the awkward talk with your parents) the beautiful cherry and plum blossoms blooming, bears finally leaving their caves, and the inevitable allergy symptoms.

Yeah! It's time to get out of the house and seize the day, well I don't know about the East Coast and the Midwest, looks like you guys still need several layers of clothing. Lucky for us Californians and Texans we've been blessed with close to t-shirt weather. Don't worry Spring will soon come your way.

For those of you who have been having sunny days and clear skies, go out and take advantage of it! We've compiled ten songs which hopefully will convince you to head out the door and enjoy the pretty weather.

So here's how it should work:

1. Take the songs with you! (Oh, don't forget your camera!)
2. Grab a couple of friends
3. Head to the park
4. Have a small picnic and enjoy the sun!!

{You can hear the playlist by using the music player here and then download the songs you like below! Save time by multi-tasking: check your email, facebook, myspace while listening...}

Camera Crowd's V-Day mix!

"Valentine's Day is a day invented by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap. "

And so we are told by the narrating thoughts of Jim Carrey's character Joel Barish in Eternal Sunshine of A Spotless Mind. Whether you are single or taken, have a problem with Valentine's Day or you don't have a problem with this holiday, take a second and let it go this year.

All that stress and anger can't be good, instead focus on the good things like, how tomorrow you can run to the grocery stores and buy Valentine chocolates for half the price! Also, Valentine's Day doesn't have to stop at couples, take this holiday as an excuse to show how much you care about the people around you. Small things like an emailing a friend you haven't talked to in awhile, holding the door for a stranger, calling your mom or dad or making a mix cd of your own and pass that around as Valentines...it's pretty eye-opening when you see how many people you know and love are around you.

Now that you're all inspired and eager to show how cheesy you are, be nice to yourself and listen to some good music. Oh yeah...Happy Valentine's Day!

From the Camera Crowd, To the Dancefloor

Although the Thanksgiving holiday is nearing its end, Christmas is right around the corner and so are the parties that come along with the holidays. I hope you won't have to be stuck at one where the same tasteless music is played over and over again, but if you are the one throwing the party, here are a few bands that will make your party dance-ilicious. Hint: you can also use this playlist to practice your dance moves when no one's looking...

Click on the song title to download!
Click on the artist/band name to find out more!

{ Once the Hype Machine records these songs onto our recent tracks page, you can click on their neat pop up flash player to listen to these songs and then just download the ones you like. Just click on the pop-up flash player located to your left to listen to this playlist now! }
From the Camera Crowd, To the Dancefloor

Oh I'm Happy When It Rains [Playlist]

Photo by: Andre Gallant

Ignoring freak snow storms, the start of November or the week of Thanksgiving is usually the start of rainy/snowy season. For as long as I can remember, I've been a "rain, rain don't go away.." kid. I totally prefer the rain over a nice sunny day. Sunny summer days just give me headaches and makes me grumpy. There's something about the sights and sounds of the rain that makes it so beautiful. And there's nothing else besides music and a warm sweater that would perfectly go along with the rainy weather.

I've put together several songs that would have your senses thanking you during those wintery days. Most of these songs have little or nothing to do with the rain, but each and every one of them is soothing to the ears just like a warm cup of real green tea flowing down your throat(not that snapple/arizona crap).

And one more thing, before you carve that big turkey/tofurky of yours, think about the less fortunate who aren't having a big meal this thanksgiving. Try and help out the less fortunate by donating canned goods at your local supermarket. Or if you wanna go further, help out on Thanksgiving day at your local soup kitchen, it's only for a couple of hours on Thanksgiving morning. I did just that a couple of years ago and volunteered at a local church in San Francisco and served food to the homeless. So do what you can, there are millions out there who are starving right now, even the people who don't celebrate Thanksgiving, even one can of stuffings can make a difference.

A Camera in the Crowd hits the books.

So i assume everyone's already loaded up with homework and slowly losing printer ink? Well except for the U.C's, they don't start for another week. I don't know about you, but whenever I'm working on an essay or figuring out an oh so complex math problem, I need my music. It just makes homeworking go by faster and make that 5 page essay seem shorter, well perhaps not. Anyhoo, i've put together a 10 song playlist that will fit right into your micro sized mp3 player or your bulky cd player. It'll keep you up and sane when pulling those inevitable all nighters, and hopefully help you when you're stuck with just your name and date and not know what to write for your intro paragraph.

I've mixed it up with songs that will wake you up but not give you a headache, and several calm songs that are just relaxing to the ear and the mind. So download these and upload them to your Itunes or whatever player you use. It'll be a great homework buddy, especially Explosions in the Sky, i just had to put two tracks there, I know it's against the rule of making mix cds or mixtapes, but Explosions in the Sky is good for you!!!

1. Wake Up | The Arcade Fire
2. Suspended From Class | Camera Obscura
3. Day Six | Explosions in the Sky
4. Bad Education | Tilly and the Wall
5. 2:45 a.m | Elliott Smith
6. Look into the Air | Explosions in the Sky
7. Blindfold Waltz | Sparrow House
8. Saeglopur | Sigur Rós
9. Some kind of Chill | Arizona
10. Dear Mr. Supercomputer | Sufjan Stevens
